This is another one of my attempts to generate three-dimensional landscapes using a program called Terragen. A newer version called, cleverly called, Terragen 2 has just come out, and I have been working to create an animation using it. It's a little bit more complex to use than the older version. But I was able to create this animation. When you watch this short film, you'll notice a few rendering errors, I left this in on purpose to show that the animation capabilities of this program are rather cumbersome - not as easy to use as Terranim (a program that animates the older Terragen files). But the programmers are busily working to make the animation controls of Terragen 2 better.

What's nice about Terragen 2 is that it can create realistic scenery, much more so than the older version. It can create entire planets with a few settings. Plus you'll notice that the snow has cliffs of their own and are not just a simple flat layers over the mountains. It's a very powerful program and I hope to use this more with my documentary project.

Of course there is a larger high definition file for you to download, if you so wish. You can find that here.

Enjoy!
